Brussels finances six Portuguese companies with 50,000 euros to promote innovation

Today, it was announced in Brussels that 277 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from the 28 Member States were selected to receive a total of 117 million euros in grants to finance their activities. These grants are awarded under the SME support instrument that is part of the Horizon 2020 program, politically managed by the Portuguese commissioner Carlos Moedas, who is in charge of the Research, Science and Innovation portfolio at the European Commission. To finance innovation activities and business plans, Brussels selected 78 SMEs, from 18 countries, to receive a total of 108 million euros. In this case, there is no Portuguese company, the countries with the most beneficiaries being Spain (12), the United Kingdom and the Netherlands (10 each) and France (9). For feasibility studies, 199 companies from 25 countries were selected, involved in 178 projects, which will receive a total of nine million euros. For each project, each participant will receive 50 thousand euros for feasibility studies. Among the beneficiaries, in this case, are six companies located in Portugal: Bluecover Technologies (Portalegre), Stab Vida (Oeiras), UBQ – Chemical Unit (Funchal), Unbabel (Samora Correia), Xhockware (Porto), Ynvisible (Cartaxo) …
